Kawai's wood technology utilizes all the senses—sight, smell, and touch—in selecting the finest woods. The soundboards are crafted from solid spruce with a highly consistent grain, carefully selected, asymmetrically arched, and scientifically tested to meet Kawai's exacting standards for resonance and optimal sound.

THE MOST PRECISE PIANO MECHANISM IN THE WORLD

Kawai's "Ultra-Responsive Action" is a leader thanks to its combination of material thickness, stability, precision, and reliability. The hammerheads are pressed from 100% premium wool. To make the mechanism resistant to climatic influences caused by the changing seasons, temperature, and humidity, Kawai pioneered the construction of the action beam and hammer spring bar from aluminum. Many other precision parts of the mechanism are cast from extremely durable ABS Styran, which features very low friction.
