Accessibility Statement

We want everyone – regardless of their abilities – to be able to browse and shop comfortably in our online shop. On this page we explain how we implement accessibility, where limitations still exist and how you can report barriers to us.

Scope

This statement applies to the online shop of Musik-Ebert GmbH at www.musik-ebert.de. For our country shops musik-ebert.ch, musik-ebert.at and musik-ebert.fr, the versions of this statement available there apply. Our online shop is a service in electronic commerce within the meaning of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG).

Legal Basis and Standards

We endeavour to make our online shop accessible in accordance with the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) and the Ordinance on the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSGV). Both implement European Directive (EU) 2019/882 (European Accessibility Act). The benchmark for the technical implementation is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, conformance level AA, as well as the European standard EN 301 549.

Our Service

Musik Ebert is a specialist music retailer with a shop in Konstanz and an online shop. Via our online shop you can view, compare and order musical instruments and accessories: you find products using the search or the category navigation, receive a description, images and the price on the product page, add items to the basket and complete your order in the checkout area – with common payment methods and a subsequent order confirmation by email. If you have any questions, you can reach us by email and by telephone (see contact page); personal advice is also available in our shop.

Accessibility Measures

So that as many people as possible can use our shop, we rely among other things on:

  • operability with the keyboard on the central pages and throughout the ordering process,
  • compatibility with common screen readers (e.g. NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack),
  • alternative texts for product images (being expanded on an ongoing basis, see below),
  • sufficient colour contrast for texts and controls,
  • the ability to enlarge the display up to 200% without loss of content,
  • a clear page structure with headings, lists and labelled form fields,
  • a responsive design for desktop, tablet and smartphone.

The checkout area is provided technically by our shop platform Shopify and is continuously developed further by it with regard to accessibility.

Status of Compatibility

Our online shop is partially compatible with the requirements mentioned. We review accessibility regularly – with automated testing tools, manual checks and supplementary external expert reviews – and are working through the limitations listed below step by step.

Known Limitations

According to our self-assessment (as at July 2026), the following limitations currently exist in particular:

  • Around 4 per cent of the product images do not yet have alternative texts for screen readers; they are being added.
  • Some coloured highlights, in particular sale labels on product tiles, do not yet consistently achieve the required colour contrast.
  • On some product and information pages, the heading order is not consistently logical, which can make navigation with screen readers more difficult.
  • In isolated cases, controls are smaller than recommended, for example links in the breadcrumb navigation.
  • Some tables in our guide articles are not fully marked up with column headers.
  • Embedded third-party content, for example product videos or manufacturer data sheets in PDF format, is in some cases not fully accessible.

We are resolving these points step by step and will update this statement accordingly.

Reporting Barriers: Feedback and Contact

Have you encountered a barrier or do you need content in a form that is accessible to you? Write to us at info@musik-ebert.de (subject “Accessibility”). We usually reply within five working days. Alternatively, you can reach us via our contact page or in person in our shop in Konstanz.

Enforcement Procedure and Market Surveillance

Responsibility for monitoring the accessibility requirements under the BFSG lies with the market surveillance body of the German federal states for the accessibility of products and services (Marktüberwachungsstelle der Länder für die Barrierefreiheit von Produkten und Dienstleistungen, MLBF), Carl-Miller-Straße 6, 39112 Magdeburg, email: kontakt@mlbf-barrierefrei.de, web: www.mlbf-barrierefrei.de. If you are of the opinion that our services do not meet the requirements and we have been unable to resolve your concern, you can contact this body.
