Powerful tone, elegant looks: the LAG Tramontane T318A

The LAG Tramontane T318A is built for guitarists who refuse to compromise on materials. As an Auditorium model from the French manufacturer LAG, it combines a powerful, overtone-rich tone with an elegant, South French-inspired look — equally at home with confident strumming or delicate fingerstyle playing.

Hand-selected Engelmann spruce meets flamed ovangkol

The solid top is made from AA Engelmann spruce, hand-selected by LAG luthiers, delivering a more powerful, overtone-rich sound than conventional spruce. The back and sides in flamed ovangkol provide the perfect counterpart: this tonewood combines the warmth of rosewood with the clarity and brilliance of maple, resulting in a wide, transparent frequency response.

Brownwood: a sustainable alternative to rosewood and ebony

LAG crafts the fingerboard and bridge from Brownwood, a technologically enhanced wood made from fast-growing New Zealand pine, densified and impregnated under pressure. It shares the playing characteristics of ebony and rosewood while offering an FSC-certified, ecologically forward-thinking alternative.

The Auditorium shape for versatile playing

The Auditorium shape is the all-rounder among body styles: enough volume for powerful strumming, yet focused and clear enough for delicate fingerstyle work. With a 43 mm nut width, 650 mm scale length, and black die-cast tuners with a precise 1:18 ratio, the T318A offers comfortable playability and excellent tuning stability.

Your benefits at a glance:

  • Premium tonewood: Solid AA Engelmann spruce for dynamics and overtone richness.
  • Balanced tonal character: Flamed ovangkol for warm bass and transparent highs.
  • Sustainable material: FSC-certified Brownwood instead of rare tropical woods.
  • Highly versatile: Auditorium shape suited to both strumming and fingerstyle.
  • Excellent tuning stability: Die-cast tuners with precise 1:18 ratio.

Who is the T318A for?

If a Dreadnought feels too bulky, the T318A is a great alternative: its slightly narrower waist makes it very comfortable to play seated, and thanks to ovangkol's clear frequency spectrum, it cuts through well in a band mix.
