A Soundboard in a Class of Its Own

Kawai's wood technology uses all the senses ... sight, smell and touch when selecting the finest woods. The soundboards are made from solid spruce with a very even grain, carefully selected, asymmetrically crowned and scientifically tested to meet Kawai's high standards for resonance behaviour and the best possible tone.

The World's Most Precise Piano Action

Thanks to the combination of material strength, stability, precision and reliability, Kawai's "Ultra-Responsive Action" is a leader in its field. The hammer heads are pressed from 100% "premium" wool. In order to make the action resistant to climatic influences caused by the changing seasons and by variations in temperature and humidity, Kawai carried out pioneering work and designed the action rail and the hammer rest rail in aluminium. Many other precision parts of the action are moulded from ABS Styran, an extremely durable material with very low frictional resistance.

The Back Post Construction

In the K series, the back posts consist of a sturdy laminated timber construction that ensures optimum strength and outstanding stability of the entire structure.
