For the felt hammers and strings of the YUS series, Yamaha uses the same materials found in its flagship concert grand, the CFX. The frame is built to withstand around 20 tonnes of string tension – the foundation for a rich, carrying tone across the entire keyboard.

The TransAcoustic system TA3: playing without compromise

Non-contact electromagnetic sensors precisely detect every key strike and pass it on to the sound generator. Instead of speakers, the sound is projected directly through the soundboard via the Soundboard Drive System – a natural, room-filling sound with no headphones needed, using the binaurally sampled grand piano sounds Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial, plus a Forte Piano sound.

Precision action for a consistent touch

Manufacturing tolerances as tight as 0.05 mm ensure a precise, reliable action. The individually weighted, aligned and balanced keys deliver a consistent response across the entire keyboard – from the softest pianissimo to the most powerful fortissimo.
