Soundboard and hammer action modelled on the CFX

The soundboard adopts the CFX concert grand's signature crowned construction and is crafted from carefully selected spruce from Yamaha's own Kitami mill in Hokkaido — delivering a full, harmonically rich tone with excellent projection. The hammers, developed specifically for the CX series, respond sensitively to every nuance of touch, while the vacuum-cast frame withstands over 20 tons of string tension.

Yamaha SH3: play whenever you like — even in silence

With the built-in SH3 Silent Piano System, you can turn your C1X into a silent practice instrument at any time: touchless sensors on the keys and hammers capture your playing, and a digital sound generator reproduces binaurally sampled tones of the Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial concert grands through headphones. Virtual Resonance Modelling and Grand Expression Modelling make Silent mode feel as natural as playing the acoustic instrument, while the Quick Escape System preserves full repetition even in Silent mode. The C1X also connects via Bluetooth MIDI to the Smart Pianist app.
