The Yamaha SV-250 Silent Violin opens up new practice possibilities: early in the morning, late at night, or in a thin-walled apartment – with headphones, no one is disturbed. At the same time, Yamaha doesn't abandon violin-making tradition: a spruce and flamed maple body plus a carefully crafted neck deliver a playing feel very close to a classical acoustic violin.

Violin-making craftsmanship meets thoughtful electronics

Two piezo pickups – one in the body, one on the maple bridge (Aubert) – capture both the instrument's full resonance and subtle playing nuances. The pickup blend control lets you mix both signals to taste, for a warm, natural tone or a direct, focused sound.

Versatile connections for practice, recording and the stage

The external control box offers a headphone output, a 6.3 mm line out and a balanced XLR output – ideal for connecting to a PA system on stage or recording in the studio. A ground lift switch prevents hum loops, and the -26 dB PAD switch adapts the level to sensitive inputs.
