The Dan Moi wooden kazoo brings music to any gathering without you having to learn a single note. Barely bigger than a lighter, this little membranophone sits comfortably in your hand and turns your voice into a funny, nasal sound reminiscent of a saxophone. How the pocket saxophone works

On top sits a round membrane made of transparent paper. When you sing, hum or speak into it, your voice sets the membrane vibrating – the sound is amplified and slightly distorted. This creates the typical, strong kazoo sound, with no practice and no lessons required. Anyone who has ever hummed through a comb and paper as a child will recognise the principle right away.

Replace the membrane yourself

If the sound fades after intensive playing, you can renew the membrane without any tools: lift out the wooden ring, for example with a paper clip, and insert a fresh membrane. A matching membrane set (two membranes plus a spare wooden ring) is available as an option.
